All Levels Group Classes

Pilates Reformer

The Reformer is ideal for every body type, level of fitness, and age group. The Reformer acts as a support system for the body by helping assist it into proper form. It adds resistance to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs that form part of the machine. It develops core strength as it dynamically works to both stretch and activate muscles. Intensity can be varied considerably from one person to the next, making it an incredibly versatile piece of equipment to use. This capability, combined with the support afforded by the resistance the machine provides, allows people of all capabilities (including those with limited range of movement or injuries) to safely complete exercises. Provision Studio offers small classes guaranteeing that you will receive guidance and support throughout the class.

Accelerate is a challenging workout equally focused on building strength, burning fat with customizable cardio, and correcting postural alignment while using state-of-the-art equipment and Pilates principles. Accelerate is unmissable — it’s the first and only class of its kind in the Birmingham area. It is a circuit based class utilizing woodway treadmills, rebounders, and strength work. Our rebounders are designed to elevate your heart rate while cleansing your lymphatic system faster than your body does on its own. Our woodway treadmills are the lowest impact, most luxurious treadmills on the market and our strength work is functional and alignment based. By applying Pilates principles to our state of the art treadmills, rebounders, and spring board, we've developed a unique, upbeat circuit-training class guaranteed to burn those calories!

Stretch & Mobility

A class all focused on releasing tension/stress, lengthening and stretching the body, and working on your mobility and range of motion. Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way and that leads to injuries/pain. Open to all levels of flexibility.

Cardio Reformer

Cardio Reformer is a fun, high energy, low-impact class that will strengthen your body and elevate your heart rate. The jumpboard employs the principles of plyometrics to train coordination, strengthen muscles and burn calories. It attaches to the end of the reformer and allows you to get cardio aerobic training with very little stress or impact on the joints, and the springs help the muscles tone without bulking. The jumpboard is a great alternative to traditional cardio, and is recommended for anyone looking to strengthen lower body joints, get relief from osteoporosis or just looking to get a killer fat-burning workout! In this innovative class, we will use quick transitions and fuse multiple styles of modern cardio and exercise elements with the elongating reformer work to offer an all-in-one workout.

Pilates centers you with a focus on posture, breathing and core work. It strengthens and gently stretches the pregnant body and encourages you to embrace the physical changes the body goes through during pregnancy. As with all prenatal exercise, Pilates is not as much about getting in the best shape of your life as it is a tool to help prepare for the pregnancy process. Conditioning your core through Pilates while pregnant targets muscles that protect your back and are central to labor and delivery. Pilates helps prepare you for the most physical experience your body will go through. Plus, a healthy core during pregnancy leads to a quicker recovery after the baby arrives.

First Trimester - The initial stage of pregnancy brings upon a mixed bag of joy and discomfort. It is common to feel fatigue, nausea, and upper back and shoulder tension. This is a good time to work on posture awareness, breathing, core exercises, gentle stretching and pelvic floor exercises. Slow and gentle strengthening can be done if you feel up to it.

Second Trimester - This is the stage of pregnancy when you feel your best. You're done with the morning sickness and have tons of energy. And is that a bump we see!? With the expansion of your belly comes the gradual pushing forward and shifting of your center of gravity. Weight shifting forward can lead to tight calf and hip muscles, weak hamstrings, compression of the lower back and a forward shoulder roll that leads to front shoulder tension. We'll help relieve the pain with exercises that encourage good posture, gently stretch the tight and compressed areas, and strengthen the weak ones. Since at this stage you can no longer be on your back, we implement correct body positions while keeping muscles toned, and allowing the body to provide good circulation for you and your baby.

Third Trimester - There's a good chance that by now you're feeling uncomfortable. The baby’s movement is strongly felt, the joints of your pelvis may feel loose, breathing may be more difficult, and you may have swelling in your hands, ankles, and feet. We know you're counting down the days! It is our goal to help ease the discomfort of this final stage of pregnancy. At this time it is important to keep up with gentle exercises, emphasize deep breathing for relaxation and become familiar with poses that reduce swelling. This is a good time to build stamina and courage in preparation for labor and delivery.

Fourth Trimester (Postpartum) - You did it! We encourage you to listen to your body and take the time to recover. We will work on restoring your core, pelvic floor, rebuilding strength and confidence, and restoring flexibility. We will check for Diastasis and use modifications as needed as you work on full body recovy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I arrive for class?

We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early for your first class. If you are not here when class starts, we may give your space to someone on the waitlist. If you know you’re going to be late, shoot us an email and we will try to get you into the next class!

What happens if I can't make a class I have signed up for? What is your late cancellation/no show policy?

We understand; things change. But our cancellation policy doesn't, so please be advised: Late Cancellations/No Shows: We require a minimum of 6 hours notice to cancel a class. If you have a session package, you will lose that session if you cancel the class 6 or less before the start of class. If you have an unlimited package, a late cancellation/no show fee of $10 will be charged to your card on file. If your card is not on file, one day will be deducted from your package. If you are on the waitlist and can no longer attend class, please cancel yourself off of the waitlist. You can be added to the class and off the waitlist up to 30 minutes before class. If you are added to class and then late cancel, the late cancellation policy will apply.
Remember - the waitlist is like flying standby. By signing up for the waitlist, you are saying that if a spot opens up, you will attend. If you get moved in and can no longer attend, and it is within 6 hours of the class, it is considered a late cancel. There is no penalty to remove yourself from the waitlist at any point!

How will I know if I get in off the wait list?

You will receive an email and a text! If you get into class from the waitlist, please confirm or remove yourself from the list if you can no longer make it.

Where do I park?

We have reserved spaces right in front of the studio. If those are occupied, you can park in any of the spaces along 28th Avenue, on Central Avenue, or in the lot in front of Special Occasions and Caliber. Check out this parking video!

What should I bring to class?

Feel free to bring your own towel and water. We have water refill station in the studio, but you will need your own bottle!

What should I wear for class?

For Pilates classes avoid pants that are too loose and flowy because class involves segments in which your legs are in the air. Most people feel more comfortable with spandex or compression shorts under their regular shorts. We also do the workout either barefoot or you have the option to wear socks with grips (available to purchase in the studio). For Cardio Classes wear whatever clothes and shoes you usually walk or run in.

I am pregnant. Can I still do the workout?

Please let us know if you are expecting. Pilates is one of the most suitable exercises for pregnant women since the Pilates method strengthens and tones the postural muscles that are used to carry the baby, help in delivery, and get you back in shape after the birth. Stengthening these muscles can make your labor easier, while strengthening the back and improving posture decreases risk of injury while carrying your baby. We offer modifications in your class so you can continue to workout whether you’re one or thirty-one weeks pregnant. Any of our other classes can be modified as well for those that are expecting.

How can I become a Pilates Instructor?

Provision Studio serves as a satellite education center for Pilates Academy International (PAI,) located at Pilates on Fifth in New York City. We offer Pilates teacher training courses in all Pilates apparatuses (Mat, Reformer, Chair, Barrels, and Cadillac.) Please call for more information about becoming a trained Pilates teacher.
